As part of the international project “ID: CITIZEN,” the Equality Association is organizing an online conference dedicated to advancing accessibility, universal design, and systemic solutions for the equal participation of persons with disabilities in public spaces and the community.
The conference will be held on Wednesday, May 27, starting at 10:00 a.m., via the Zoom platform.
The event will present key insights and results from study visits conducted in Poland and Slovakia, as well as the publication “Policy Recommendations for Enhanced Inclusivity.” The document contains practical guidelines and proposals for establishing systemic accessibility, improving urban mobility, enhancing public spaces, and implementing inclusive practices across all four countries.
The main message of the conference is that accessibility must not be a privilege or an additional measure, but rather a fundamental right and an integral part of planning for every community. If public space is not systematically designed for all citizens, it becomes a barrier that excludes rather than connects.
The conference will be led by representatives of the partner organizations—the Equality Association (Macedonia), the Integration Foundation (Poland), the Hand-in-Hand Organization (Hungary), and the Tenenet Association (Slovakia)—and will be attended by representatives from institutions and municipalities, professionals in the fields of urban planning, architecture, culture, and social inclusion, civil society organizations, as well as all stakeholders working to advance accessibility and equal participation in society.
